Select Breeding Solutions, located in the Nelson/Tasman region of New Zealand, was established in 2018. We have two main goals; to provide plant breeding and horticultural expertise to clients and to develop proprietary cultivars. We specialise in horticultural crops especially hops and berries but work with any crop. Using new and innovative techniques we are bringing new releases to the market faster. Dr Mark Joseph Stephens (Jo)

Jo has been involved with horticulture since he was a child having been raised on an apple orchard. Jo trained at Lincoln University in New Zealand and worked at Plant and Food Research (and predecessor HortResearch) for 20 years before starting Select Breeding Solutions. He completed his PhD in plant breeding in 2012. Jo brings skill and passion to his company.
